(Jamestown & Indiana players earn Player & Goaltender of the Week honors)
(Canton, Ohio) On behalf of everyone associated with the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League we want to wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving. The MAHL has a light schedule of five games as the teams are off on both Thursday and Friday this week.
The Indiana Ice Miners remain in first place with a perfect 5-0-0 record and all eyes are on the Jamestown Vikings who have won three in a row and have catapulted into third place; only a point behind the second place Wooster Warriors.
The Mon Valley Thunder struggled losing home & home games to Jamestown and the Valley Forge Freedom lost a heartbreaker, 5-4 in overtime, to first place Indiana. Valley Forge was strengthened by the addition of former Pittsburgh Penguins draft choice (9th round, 1997 NHL Entry Draft), defenseman Eric Lind.
MAHL "Player of the Week"
Forward Patrick Steinmayr of the Jamestown Vikings is the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League Player of the Week. In three games last week, the 6'-1", 208 lbs forward scored four goals and added five assists for nine points as the Vikings won all three contests. Against the Mon Valley Thunder on 11/17, he scored the game winning goal. Steinmayr, 23, played last season for Knoxville in the SPHL and previously played in Europe.
MAHL "Goaltender of the Week"
The Indiana Ice Miners Anthony Feyock has been chosen the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. Feyock stopped 53 of 57 shots against Valley Forge on 11/17 as the Ice Miners remained unbeaten with a 5-4 win at Valley Forge. For Anthony, it was his first game of the year in the MAHL after beginning the season with his hometown Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL. The 6'-1", 175 lbs. twine-tender played last year for Lubbock in the CHL after playing college hockey at the University of Rhode Island.

Vikings Claim Third Straight Win
11/19/2007 - Wade Gault tallied the hat trick and had an assist, and J.P. Pauly had two goals and four assists to lead the Jamestown Vikings to an 11-2 victory over Mon Valley on Sunday night at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena.
The win, the Vikings' third of the weekend, improved their record to 3-4 and their six points put them four behind front-running Indiana in the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League.
The Vikings, behind two goals by Pauly, and one apiece by Gault and Patrick Steinmayr, built a 4-0 lead after the first period, and that was more than enough offense for goalie Justin Gray, who made 26 saves.
Gault added two more goals during a five-goal third period, which ended with the Vikings holding a 9-2 lead. Mykul Haun, Evan Lagace and Charles Harvey also found the back of the net for the winners.

Kane Tallies First Professional Goal In Vikings' Victory
11/18/2007 - BELLE VERNON, Pa. - Zach Kane provided an early spark as the Jamestown Vikings (2-4) made it back-to-back wins in the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League on Saturday night at the Rostraver Ice Garden.
Kane, a Jamestown resident, scored his first professional goal to give his team an early lead and then added a point during a five-goal second-period outburst as the Vikings went on to post a 8-5 decision over Mon Valley (2-1-1).
Kane broke the scoreless tie when he converted passes from J.P. Pauly and Bill Blaszcyk at 4:33 of the first period.
Joey Olson tied it up at 1-1 on a power-play goal from Zack Lindsay and James Matthews at 9:35.
Robert Romkowski put Jamestown ahead, 2-1, on a power-play tally from Patrick Steinmayr and Mykul Haun at 16:28.

Vikings Pick Up First Win Of Season In Shootout
11/17/2007 - Charles Harvey was the hero as the Jamestown Vikings made history in the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League on Friday night at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena.
Harvey scored the tie-breaking goal in a shootout to give the Vikings an exciting 6-5 win over Wooster, Ohio, and their first franchise win after four losses.
It appeared that the Vikings were going to win in regulation but penalties proved costly as Dan Isenhath scored a pair of powerplay goals 32 seconds apart to tie the game at 5-5.

Vikings Allow Plenty Of Goals Again In Third Straight Loss
11/5/2007 - INDIANA, Pa. - Opponents continue to score plenty of goals against the Jamestown Vikings.
Jamestown lost its first two Mid-Atlantic Hockey League games at home by scores of 7-2 and 10-4. On Sunday afternoon, the Vikings played their first road game and suffered a 9-2 loss to the Indiana Ice Miners.
While Jamestown falls to 0-3, Indiana is 2-0 after the first weekend of play in the new Class A league.
Indiana jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first period as Justin Depretis scored the last two goals and Kyle Bozolan had the first and Chris Ferazzoli the second.
Tom Broudeau, who had two assists in the first period, scored 8:36 into the second period to up the hosts' lead to 5-0.
Jamestown finally got on the scoreboard with a goal by Patrick Steinmayr, assisted by Charles Harvey.

Thunder Rolls Past Vikings
11/4/2007 - The Jamestown Vikings stuck with the Mon Valley Thunder for the first two periods on Saturday night, but the team collapsed in the third period.
Jamestown entered the final period trailing by one goal, but the Thunder scored six times in the third to down the Vikings, 10-4, in Mid-Atlantic Hockey League play at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena on Saturday night.
The Vikings were able to jump out to an early lead again, but they couldn't hold on. Will Roberts beat Mon Valley goalkeeper Frank Park 5:49 into the first period to get the scoring started, but the Vikings power play struggles continued. Joey Olson tallied an unassisted short-handed goal to knot the game up at one apiece. It was the second short-handed goal that the Vikings have yielded in as many nights. Jerry Cardinale added a goal off assists by Joey Olson and Zack Lindsay 16:21 into the period to give Mon Valley the lead.

Hockey Team's Debut At Ice Arena Brings Life To Downtown Area

11/3/2007 - The streets and parking lots surrounding the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena were packed Friday night as spectators flocked to the inaugural game of their new hometown team, the Jamestown Vikings.
According to Erica Maloney, marketing and sales manager, the arena sold approximately 1,800 tickets and drew a crowd of nearly 300 for the pregame party which featured free chicken wings and music by Smackdab.
‘‘We have had a great reception from the fans tonight,'' Maloney said. ‘‘(The Vikings) give people something to look forward to and families something to do. It is a great thing for our city.''
The crowd inside the arena was visibly engaged in the action throughout the game. The arena felt alive.
