The Nuclear Postmen are a roller hockey team based in Toledo, Ohio, from 1991-1993. They were players in Sylvania Sports and Exhibition Center's inaugural roller hockey season in the spring of 1992. The Nuclear Postmen won the Bill Cup Championship that season. They no longer play at Tam O' Shanter in Sylvania, Ohio after having spent that single season there.
When Tam O' Shanter (now known as the Sylvania Sports & Exhibition Center) found the costs of maintaining their ice surface to be too high during the late spring and early summer, where hockey was not as commonly played, they decided to experiment with introducing a summer roller hockey league as a way of keeping the facility in use without the costs of maintaining an ice hockey rink.
The Nuclear Postmen were a team playing and practicing on the blacktop lot of Harvard Elementary School in Toledo, Ohio. Players were ages 13-15 years old. The team was inspired by the return of professional ice hockey to Toledo in the Toledo Storm. The Storm brought hockey back to life in the city of Toledo, who had been without a pro hockey team since the Toledo Goaldiggers in 1986.
